Crab Nebula. Acrylic on canvas, 12”x12” (2012)
Pleiades. Epoxy resin and acrylic on wood panel, 12”x12” (2012)The properties of light and spatial depth are the focus of Alizey Khan’s work, using thinly layered colours to convey a sense of spatial vastness. To this end, the Charleston, South Carolina-based artist paints astronomical phenomena, which allow for the greatest exploration of light in an incomprehensibly vast space. Alizey strives to visually depict natural processes beyond ordinary human experience to instil in the viewer a sense of curiosity and wonder regarding the universe around us. Flying Down, Artwork by Farzaneh Radmehr
For the past two nights I have had dreams turning strange and sour and on the verge of nightmares, and yet the situation developing always seems to resolve itself. Last night I dreamed that I was taking a yoga class taught by a friend of ours, who is also a political-science teacher at a local college.
As she took us through the poses, I began to grow quite paranoid. I felt as if people were watching me out of the corner of their eyes, waiting for me to fall over or do something foolish. While in crab poses, I scuttled to the back of the class and hid in a broom closet.
